This tour goes back in history to 1989! Total cycling distance 200 km on the easy new bike trails around Berlin including small side streets. Well signposted. Tour starts and finishes in Potsdam. It offers a unique opportunity to see the traces of the latest German history. The falling of the Berlin Wall on November 9th, 1989 which was constructed after the Second World War to separate the east from the west is part of what you will see. There remains traces left of the wall which now serves as bike trails. Some of the former fortifications that secured the border such as watch towers or control points have been reconstructed and put under monument protection. Still have 18 km that goes right through the middle of Berlin that was where the wall stood. Distances are short to allow participants time to explore.
