ITALY: From Lake Garda to Venice Hiking Tour 8 days and 7 nights' beautiful 3*** accommodation with breakfasts as indicated on the PDF. Luggage transfer between hotels. There will have a welcome briefing when you arrive for the Saturday tour start. Transfers according to the program. You'll be provided with carefully elaborated route description and detailed travel documents. One set per room. And GPS data is available. As a bonus, there is one small grappa sampling in Venice. The route is considered relatively easy. Your walk will take you along diverse hiking paths and trails, partly on gravel roads and forest paths. Only a few sections are rocky and narrow, otherwise the paths run on easy terrain and are nice to walk on. Nearly everywhere you have a choice of a shorter and easier options. The nice paths are along rivers, lakes and through forests, often you walk high above a valley and enjoy unique long-distance views. Total distance is 87 km.

From the north shores of Lake Garda which is the largest fresh water lake in Italy which is known for its crystal-clear water. At the south end of the lake is the town of Sirmione which is dominated by the Rocca Scaligera, a fortress with harbor views. The nearby Grotte di Catullo archaeological site includes a Roman villa. On the lake's western shore, in Gardone Riviera, is Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, former home of poet d’Annunzio. The Dolomites frame Riva del Garda, a resort in the north. But your tour route will take you along ancient pilgrim routes through the rock deserts of the Sarca valley down into the Etsch valley to Trento. From there you proceed into the wonderful quiet valley of Valsugana, which was already utilized by the Romans along the Via Claudia in order to reach the Adriatic Sea. Here you come across imperial spa towns and historic forts, busy village centers invite you to an adventurous exploration. You experience Lake Garda Mountains, the Vizentiner Alps, the high summits of the Cima Dodoci, you walk through an open-air art exhibition and get to know the rivers Brenta, Sile, Sarca and Etsch. Glistening lakes and high mountains are your constant companion. The high-altitude paths above the Brenta valley guide you downhill into the wine growing region of Bassano del Grappa. Through the impressive river landscape of the Sile Nature Park you reach the lagoon region of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Venice.
